Cheers and welcome to our 4th Annual Advent Calendar! Throughout the next month, we will be going on a high-end bourbon journey together and reviewing 25 bourbons from award winning distilleries across America. Starting on December 1st and ending on December 25th - we will get to experience everything from small batches to single barrels that are jam packed with flavor. Please join us in toasting to another incredible year and getting to virtually share some of our favorite bottles from this past year with you!

We made it! 25 bourbons in 25 days!

First, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

We are in for a treat today - The Original Single Barrel that we have all came to love and enjoy!

Taken from the center-cut or middle sections of the famous Warehouse H, Blanton’s Original Single Barrel was once designated for ambassadors, dignitaries, and Colonel Blanton’s family and friends. Today, everyone has access to the world’s first single barrel bourbon. The taste profile is sweet, with notes of citrus and oak. The creamy vanilla nose is teased with caramel and butterscotch, all underscored by familiar baking spices such as clove, nutmeg, or cinnamon. Blanton’s Original set the standard for single barrel bourbons in 1984. Best served neat or on the rocks. Bottled at 46.5% alcohol by volume.

Sounds pretty spot on and delicious! Let's dive into what's in the glass.

Nose:

What a classic bourbon nose. There is a perfect balance of vanilla and caramel nose with hints of orange peel.

Palate:

The palate has your classic bourbon notes and very easy to sip on. Notes of caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, and oak.

Finish:

With the 93 proof there isn’t much bite with this finish. It’s medium in length and sweeter than most - caramel and vanilla taking us home!

Final Thoughts:

An iconic story and one of the best bottle presentations out there - Blanton's really knows how to set the bar high. To "top it off" - each bottle of Blanton’s has a topper with a letter on it for us to collect and spell out Blanton’s. Talk about some marketing geniuses!

Blanton's always offers a solid pour that is a perfect mix of vanilla, caramel, and brown sugar. I love Blanton’s and will always buy at MSRP. It definitely isn't the easiest to find and is probably every Liqours store nightmare - but we love Buffalo Trace for it!
