Cheers and welcome to our 4th Annual Advent Calendar! Throughout the next month, we will be going on a high-end bourbon journey together and reviewing 25 bourbons from award winning distilleries across America. Starting on December 1st and ending on December 25th - we will get to experience everything from small batches to single barrels that are jam packed with flavor. Please join us in toasting to another incredible year and getting to virtually share some of our favorite bottles from this past year with you!
**This review has been completed by using a Glencairn glass and neat if you want to compare the same tasting notes as DB’s Bourbon Trail. BUT - the best thing about it being YOUR bourbon is that you get to enjoy it that way YOU want to and prefer! As long as it brings us together and you are enjoying it - pour it over ice, add water, or add it to a cocktail! It’s all about what makes you happy and what you enjoy - don’t let others influence you differently!**
Enough of me rambling, let’s dive into what brought us here!

Message on the bottle:
"A TRUE WHISKEY PIONEER, W.L. WELLER IS CREDITED BY MANY FOR BEING THE FIRST TO PRODUCE KENTUCY STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKEY USING WHEAT, INSTEAD OF RYE IN HIS MASH BILL. WILLIAM LARUE WELLER'S BOURBON BECAME SO POPULAR THAT WELLER WAS FORCED TO PUT A GREEN THUMBPRINT ON BARRELS TO ENSURE THAT CUSTOMERS WERE RECEIVING THE REAL DEAL. THIS 107 PROOF BOURBON WHISKEY TASTES SWEET, YET BOLD, WITH UNUSUAL FLORAL NOTES AND HINTS OF VANILLA IN REVERENCE TO THE LEGACY OF WILLIAM LARUE WELLER!"

Review:
It's always a good day when you have some Weller in your glass. Their whole line up is special but there has always been something about the 107 to me!
Before I dive into my thoughts, what's does Buffalo Trace Website have to say about the Antique 107.
A wheated bourbon with a full-bodied flavor and a balanced palate. Old Weller Antique is bottled at 107 proof, offering a complex taste and bold finish. It’s certainly a recognizable member of the Weller label, with its own unique characteristics to compliment the high proof.
With a flavor profile and history so rich, comes recognition. In 2023 - Weller Antique 107 has won 2 Gold's (Denver and New York Spirits Competition), Platinum (ASCOT), and Silver at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition!
Let's dive into the glass!
Nose:
On the nose this is everything that I am looking for in a good bourbon - Notes of Caramel, Vanilla, Oak. Peaking through after the pour sits a bit in the glen are notes of floral.
Palate:
For 107 proof, it follows the nose with a kick of spice. Upfront it is sweet with a mixture of Caramel, Vanilla, and Freshly Baked Biscuits. From there, the spice runs perfectly into the finish. As I revisit the pour, floral notes begin to become more prevalent which adds a whole new complexity to the pour.
Finish:
Finish is long with a linger spice paired the way it’s supposed to be with caramel and vanilla. Neither the spice or sweetness is overpowering in this pour resulting in a perfect finish.
Final Thoughts:
Caramel and Vanilla Bomb! I image my glencairn doing a cannon ball into a pool of caramel and vanilla every single time I drink some 107. This is one of my favorite bourbons - it has a higher proof, it's a wheated bourbon - it just does not get much better than this bottle for me.
The only bone I have to pick with Weller is how hard it is to find in SC! It is Christmas time.... how about a Christmas Miracle and getting more allocation down here in SC?! Please and Thank you!
Cheers y’all!
