This month, we’re embarking on a high-end bourbon journey, reviewing 25 bourbons from award-winning distilleries across the United States. From December 1st to December 25th, we’ll explore everything from small batches to single barrels, all packed with flavor. Join us in toasting to another incredible year as we share some of our favorite bottles with you!

This is an incredible pick from Gibby’s! When you get a Gibby’s pick and the back of the Rare Character bottle closes with this quote:

“Rare Character Whiskey is for connoisseurs who should pick only the most memorable occasions to sip these fine whiskeys that have never been released before, and will never be released again.”

I knew there wasn’t a better occasion than Christmas Eve of 2024 to represent this bottle!

Nose:

The aroma opens with a delightful blend of honey and vanilla, creating a sweet and inviting introduction. As you dive deeper, notes of oak and dark fruit emerge, adding complexity and richness to this pour.

Palate:

On the palate, the bourbon presents a harmonious mix of vanilla and cinnamon, offering a warm and comfort pour. The addition of black pepper provides a subtle yet noticeable spice, balancing the sweetness and adding depth to the flavor profile.

Finish:

The finish is long and warm, with the black pepper and oak notes lingering pleasantly. This enduring warmth makes for a satisfying finish, leaving a lasting impression that invites you to savor each and every sip!

Final Thoughts:

This is our last Single Barrel expression this holiday season! What a ride it has been and we had to go out with a bang with this expression from Rare Character!

The best thing about bourbon and single barrels are that they can be completely different but still have the same name. We featured two bottles today with two totally different taste profiles and I loved each of them in their own way.
