Cheers and welcome to our 5th Annual Advent Calendar!
This month, we’re embarking on a high-end bourbon journey, reviewing 25 bourbons from award-winning distilleries across the United States. From December 1st to December 25th, we’ll explore everything from small batches to single barrels, all packed with flavor. Join us in toasting to another incredible year as we share some of our favorite bottles with you!
Our reviews are done using a Glencairn glass and neat, but remember, it’s your bourbon! Enjoy it however you like—over ice, with water, or in a cocktail. The key is to enjoy it your way and not let others influence your experience.
Enough of me rambling. Now, let’s dive into what brought us here!

YELLOWSTONE SINGLE BARREL SELECT - Gibby's Bottle Shop Store Pick Collaboration with Whiskey and Whitetails
Proof:
109 Proof (54.5%)
Distillery:
Limestone Branch Distillery (Lebanon, KY)
Message on the bottle:
"In 2010, my family and I founded Limestone Branch Distillery with the intention of crafting only the finest whiskey and the dream of restoring the Yellowstone brand to its former glory. In the spring of 2015, over a century after our great-grandfather. M.C. Beam, sold his distillery to Yellowstone, that dream came true. The Hand Picked Collection is a series of single barrels, each hand-picked and sampled at the distillery. With each barrel comes its own complexities and one-of-a-kind flavors - every one different than the next. From our hearts to fill your glass, Enjoy!“

Review:
Before reading the bottle, I had no idea the founders were from the Beam family line. After a little research, the history runs deep with this bottle and I definitely suggest if you are interested in learning a little more - review their website.
Our family was there at the start of the Kentucky bourbon business. It all began when a man named Jacob Beam sold his first barrels of corn whiskey.
Seven generations later, brothers Stephen and Paul Beam started their own chapter of the family history book as the proud Kentucky bourbon distillers behind Limestone Branch Distillery. You can taste that pride in every pour of our award-winning craft spirits.
Limestone Branch Distillery opened in 2011 but their bourbon drinks like they have been around forever. I am incredibly impressed with how this pour turned and am excited to dive in with you all!
Nose:
The nose of this bourbon presents a classic profile with a unique twist. It exudes an inviting aroma of caramel, vanilla, and oak. Upon swirling and taking a deeper dive, you'll discover subtle notes of hazelnut.
Palate:
The palate truly brings out the unique hazelnut notes detected on the nose. Right away, you'll taste hazelnut and baking spice. As the flavors develop, a wave of sweetness emerges with buttery caramel and brown sugar. It's a very pleasant drinkable experience!
Finish:
The finish perfectly combines the aromas and flavors, creating a harmonious experience. It has a buttery mouthfeel with just the right amount of spice. Caramel and baking spice notes round out a satisfying mid-to-long finish!
Final Thoughts:
Yellowstone Hand Picked Collections are quickly becoming my favorite single barrel selections. I've never had a bad pour from them and will always grab one if I see it on the shelf! Especially if Gibby’s and Whiskey and Whitetails are picking them behind the scenes! This bottle lives up to its iconic name, offering a very pleasant and unique twist.
Cheers y’all! 🥃
